Hello,
I have a compaq presario 2294 60 mb ram AMD -K 6(tm)3d processor...... purchased new 2.5 years ago......
I use it for email and to check stock prices and read stockmarket news sites only (no games )...im on cable and im very happy with the setup. If i wanted a touch more speed would it be wise to get as much ram as possible....or would i need to get a more powerfull pc.
Thanks

Welcome to SysOpt

You didn't mention which K6-2 processor you have now, but I suspect that a newer pc would be much better than trying to overclock the one you have. More ram always helps up to about 128 mb if you are not into gaming. But, more ram does not relate into more speed...it will help applications to load faster...to a point.

With the prices so low on components these days, building a newer system with a later cpu and more ram would be much more satisfying I would think.

A decent motherboard can be bought for about $75, a 700 to 800 mhz Duron can be bought for about $40 to $50 or less, A heatsink will cost about $20 give or take a couple bucks. 128 mb PC 133 sdram will cost about $20 or so...then you probably will need a case, which can cost anywhere from $30 to well over $100 bucks. You can reuse your keyboard, mouse, monitor...ect.

The prices above are off the top of my head, and are probably a little high.
