Hi,
This question will only be suited to a few of the Members here who venture forth into the World of MAC.

Would the staunch users of Bill's Best please not take any offence at this topic!

For those who are using MAC. What do you use as an AV and Firewall Program on this platform?

I am using NAV and ZA Pro on my Windows machines and would like to know what alternatives there are aimed at the MAC OS.

Thanks,

Nodnerb2

Well, I am no MAC expert, but the head IT guy in our department is. He has been fairly adamant about not using a virus scanner on our Macs. The reason is that the main ones are very unstable. He claims there are VERY few Mac viri in the wild (he says less than 10...not sre if that number's correct) As for a firewall, the only one I am familiar with is the one that comes built in in OS X. OS X is a Unix bases OS, with a Free BSD Backbone and has a very nice and configurable firewall included. It does not have a great GUI, but you can get enhancements for it.

Hope this helps and is not too far off the mark. Like I said, I am not a real Mac person.

I use a MAC at work. The myth that MACs do not get viruses is ridiculous. Viruses come in cycles...a few years ago MAC viruses were rampant and actually caused MAC sales to drop. Now, PC viruses are causing paranoia everywhere, and MAC fanatics are using this to promote MACs over PCs.

I would recommend Norton for anti-virus program. I can't recommend a firewall though.
