Have you never seen an UDMA-66 cable before? There's supposed to be a hole in the cable. Check your other cables, they're all "broken". http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Really?
I just checked 2 others i got (one from another ABit board) and they dont have holes.

I also sliced up 4 others for my comp, and at least 4 others for other comps, and i think i woulda noticed while slicing.

Its either a new thing, or you got a broke one too.
I'm banking on the first.

Sorry its late...

And assuming that holes supposta be there...why? To freak out estranged consumers like myself? I'm sure theres a deeper reason for it, but I cant decipher how an extra hole in a cable can help it any at all.

Indeed the hole is meant to be there so this has nothing to do with Abit's quality control (I assume that's what the pic is about sinse I cannot see it).

However Abit's quality control is not one of the best. ECS, ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI have much better quality products but these are the large manufacturers so you expect them to do so. Epox (just larger than Abit) has a far better quality control though (to compare apples with apples). As a result Abit has the most RMAs (and that's normalised per number of mainboards sold).

This may have changed however since the above picture is 18 month old.

Yeah, I've also heard that ABIT has poor quality control and ABIT has one of the highest RMA's. However, all three of my systems are ABIT mainboards, VP6, BE6-2, and KT7A. And none of them have caused me any problems...

ah
After reading that, it makes perfect sense.
I sometimes see some cables with one blocked pin...I guess thats this one.

This ones got the blocked pin-in and the hole though. I wouldnt think they would need to do both if you can block that pin either way. I'll make sense of the little things later.

This is the first one I've seen with the hole. I must apoligize for sounding stupid http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Guess I've been out of the scene a while. If I find any other wierd new stuff that freaks me out, I'll let u guys know first, as always. then you guys can lay the truth on me. It works well like that.

Anyways back to the side topic..where else can i post and link to? Easy upload is my main concern. I dont mean to go off topic, but I just need one place, so I know where to upload next time.

I personally dont have a problem with Abit. If I did, I wouldnt have gotten this ABit board. I buy more Abit boards than any other.
I've only had to RMA one board ever, and that was a BF6. However, it had been out of production for a while, so it might have been warehouse fumbles or something else post-quality check.

I just posted that topic because I thought it was an example of that., and that seemed to be an in-topic (well, I dont know about anymore, but for the past few months), Not as an Abit bash or anything. Even if it wasnt supposed to have a hole, thats the company who makes the cable's screw up, since its prepackaged in the mainboard box.

I used to use www.postmypic.com (http://www.postmypic.com) but I see they are no longer working. If you go to this website there are links to nine other websites that will host pictures for you.
