just out of curiosity, whats the chances of one day having a 128 bit OS and apps?(and hardware too) is there a max to this, or could this be one of those things say 10 years down the road the "bit" is doubled as commen as a cpu or something.

i dont totaly understand the whole 32 bit vs 64 bit. but i assume its basicly like a packet size that the cpu can read, there for allowing more information to be read faster?(thats just a guess though)

i know everyone wont go to 64 bit, and i think with the use of 64 bit we can now use more ram on mobo(32 max was around 4 gigs right, so what does 64 give us) if someone has time to answer, if not no worries just curious.

I'm sure that eventually a 128 will come out. Why not?;)

64 bit means how many bits of data can go in or out of the processor at one time( the data path if you will ), and it can address over 4 TERA bytes of RAM with a 64 bit processor now, so expect to see increases in how much RAM a mobo will support.

As for everyone going 64 bit, if they don't they'll be out of business, fast!

Yup, and given that technology advances exponentially then I'd say 128 bit processors, operating systems, and applications aren't as far off as you might think.
