I currently own a Compaq 7598 and am going to use some of the parts off it to build a new duron system for practice before i get my new t bird system. Well here goes this may sound stupid, Where do i get the drivers to all these parts (hard drive maxtor 40gig 5400, 1.44 floppy, 4x2x32 Cdrw, 40x cdrom, 56k v.90 pci modem)? Next do i need the drivers to all these parts? and last but not least how do install the drivers once i build the system?

Dont need drivers for hard disk. Dont need drivers for floppy. If you know the make or model of the Cd-RW, Cd-Rom, and modem look on the companys website.

For the CDRW best to check with manufacturer. The generic CD-ROM drivers provided by Windows work almost universally so I wouldn't worry about that. If your modem is a winmodem the Lucent driver's will probably work.

Forgot to mention that Windows will probably detect the new devices and prompt you through the driver installation. You'll get to a screen where Windows will ask you where you want to look for drivers. If you don't have a driver, let windows look on the hard drive for a generic windows driver. If you have a driver on floppy, make sure the floppy disk is in the drive and put a check in front of the floppy option.
