How do I make a RAM drive on my system. I have 384 megs of RAM and would put up 256MB for a RAM drive. How do I do this and what are some good uses for this?

I use a 64mb RAM drive for both my machines. Works great for me. It's extremely easy to setup. Go to page4 (http://www.tech-review.com/review.pl?id=238&page=4) of this article for the instructions and necessary files.

Tho the article sez it only works in W98, I've used the xmsdsk.exe prog successfully in W95, and see no reason why his method wouldn't work on it also.

I went to the links above, read everything i needed to and tried out the utilities and modifications of autoexec.bat and config.sys. Tried every combination of commands and settings but couldn't get it to work. I have windoze ME. Is ramdrive only possible in win95/98 or is is also possible in ME? If it possible, where can i find more info?

OK, for WinME, you need to do things a little differently. GO HERE (http://home.earthlink.net/~chinmonster/links/index_links.htm) and scroll down to the RAM section. I think there's a few links that may answer your question.

Brian48 - Of all the links at that site, the only one which had info on ramdriving a ME system says that they've sold the program and it's not available anymore. Any other ideas?

If anyone knows where i can get RamDiskNT and RamDisk9x/Me, please let me know. These are the programs that were available at http://www.jlajoie.com/
