More of the same maybe!

Both hooked up to a cable router.

Both accessing internet without problems.

Both in the same workgroup.

Neither can see the other in the workgroup.

Both can ping the router.

Win XP box can ping 98 box.

Win 98 box can not ping XP box.

Is installing Netbeui likely to solve this problem?

Disable the XP firewall in the Advanced properties for TCP/IP.

Add the Win98 username and password to the Users and Groups in XP's Control Panel.
