Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : looking for full copy of IE5.01SP2 on CD
Hello all -
Not sure if a full copy of this was ever released on CD by Microsoft - but that's what I'm looking for -
Anyone know where I can get a copy in the next few days? -It has to be on CD and has to be this version -
Note that off the http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ site - you get a download of a set-up file that then pulls off the web - I need this on CD as a full version ready to go on NT4.0 workstations - I'm going to be rebuilding some 230 PC's soon and don't want to blow the site's band-width yanking this off the web on each machine -
I'd appreciate your help -

I might be completely off base here but what is to stop you getting the setup file onto a CDR and then getting the rest onto the same CDR?

you don't have that option - off the web site - once you run the set-up file and it determines your operating system - it auto-installs from there - you don't have an option for a full download or to re-direct the install - not that I've found anyway -
Unless you have the CD - you can't yank it out like that -

I think microsoft IEAK lets you create your own install cd's, unfortnately i
dont think you can get it in the version you need. Altough it does let you
customise the install, i dont think it lets you install an older version.
Good luck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Exactly what is it that makes it service pack 2. I saw this on IE4 but just dont remember seeing it on IE5. There use to be an option when you downloaded from MS to let you save the files for a later install instead of running it from the MS website. Also take a Look at this link http://www.ntfaq.com/articles/index.cfm?ArticleID=21592

Some free distributing CDs (from Earthlink, AOL, Blue Light and alike) include browsers IE and/or Communicator/Navigator. Usually you get them as a junkmail in your mailbox, but I think, I saw them in some retail stores (like Best Buy) at the register or in computer dept - free for customers.

when you run the setup file, choose "custom installation" then click "advanced". there will be an option to download all selected files for later installation http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
flea - thanks for trying so hard, but I'm not looking for the enterprise administration kit - just the full install of the browser version IE5.01SP2

The program called Get Right can intercept and store all the down loads to your disk so you can burn them off. I don't have a link to it. A friend gave it to me on a burnt disk.
I have used it to save a few M$ update downloads.

Axel,
golfcart is correct. This is a lot easier than you think. Just use the installer from MS which DOES allow you to download just the setup files, although it's not obvious. When you run it, choose CUSTOM install and look for the Advance option that will allow you to place all the setup files onto your HDD for a later install. It will create a folder in your c:\ drive called c:\Windows Update Setup Files. And while you're at it, also check off all the files you need for Win9x, WinME, Win2k, and WinNT. This will take longer to download, but at least you'll have all the files you need to install it on a wide range of platforms.
For myself, I only downloaded the files I needed for Win9x, WinME, and Win2k. It came to roughly 43.3mb total which I burned onto a disk.
