Hey! Chirstmas is coming and I was wonder what might be some of the "Ultimate" game for PC. I love Starcraft, Warcraft, and Battlefield 1942 and was wondering what might be another kickin' game! :t

Warcraft3 (http://www.sharkyextreme.com/features/games/article.php/2242261) ;)
The games I keep plyaing throughout the years are Championship Manager, Unreal and Starcraft. Two games that I loved were Alien VS Predator 2 and Red Faction (finished it about 7 times already, and I keep playing)

If you want an excellent FPS / RPG, you don't get much finer than Deus Ex.

If you're more into your top-down isometric RPG's I'd recommend the newly released Temple of Elemental Evil, the older Baldur's Gate games, or maybe Icewind Dale 2...

If you want something for Christmas that will last you ages, try Morrowind!

I've heard some fine talk about Max Payne 2, but it's meant to be a tad short. If you're a Starcraft player, then C&C Generals and it's expansion Zero Hour might be worth a look, as C&C was compared to SC in so many ways, it was practically accused of just being SC in a C&C setting!

It's all really about what you're into, I suppose. :)

Anachronox and Silver, are 2 very cool games

I didn't mind silent hill 2 for the pc that much either, bought Silent hill 3 for the PS2 an it pretty awesome, so I'd recomend it for the computer :t

Sim Farm is the best game ever. Anyone played it? The game is the bomb, I wish Maxis would make a new one.
I also played Diablo 1 for several years. The Oregon Trail 2 is tight!

I think Couter-Strike Condition Zero is going to be the best kick-*** online game ever. So i'm going to get one. Need for Speed Underground is very good too. :t

I played Sim Farm and Oregon Trail 2. Sim Farm was pretty cool but hard to get into. Oregon Trail 2 was also really fun but my beginning load was always too heavy so I did a quick start but I think one of the best games to get for Xmas is one of the FF games. Any of the series from 10 and up!

dumbanddumber54

No offence, but Sim Farm and Oregon Trail 2 are not very funny and are obsolete. I was playing Oregon Trail 2 in kindergarden and could beat it in 35 min. My opinion BF 1942 is overall the best FPS ever and until BF Vietnam! :D

There are several different categories abd each of us have our favorite ones..

This could be my list:

Max Payne ( both one and two )

Need for Speed Hot pursuit 2 ( What a blast! well done! )

Mafia ( an incredible game of its own : just love the music and the realistic old time cars..., In my top 3 )

Warcraft 3 : visually stunning and a fantastic RPG fantasy and stradegy )

Command and Conquer series: generals.,Red Alert 2

Jedi Knight 2

I vould go on but any of these are worth their weight in gold

Need for Speed Underground!!!

Yeahhh!! Babyyy!!!

Waited for it a long time.

Other then that, can't think of any, don't play that many games on the pc anymore, only racing games.

Most games I'm waiting for now are for the Xbox, like Ninja Gaiden.

You're absolutely right, you wanna do it the right way, you've gots to have yourself a wheel.

Having a wheel gives the game a complete different dimension.

Like when in NFS:U you're driving on a road that's filled with rain, driving through puddles going insanely fast, cars coming from your left and right, bumpin into you, you're really struggling against the forces of the wheel, tryin to keep the car on the road.

There's nothin that can compare to that feeling, except maybe if you were to do it in real life and there aren't that many of us who can afford to do it in real life, I mean with the way some people are drivin, you'll be bankrupt before you know it, might even get yourself killed.

Having a wheel gives you more control, like when the car is going in a spin, you feel the forces, react, and get you car straightened out.

I say, if you have some spare cash and you're crazy about racing, go for it and get one of them force feedback wheels, you won't be disappointed.

I liked Undying a lot. I think Clive had some cool ideas for a creepy game. It freaked me out a couple times the way stuff just sneaks up on ya.

I think the NOLF series is sweet too. Great game play and humor.

WCIII is hardcore. I was a Starcraft player for a lotta years.

At this point, I am just waiting for those next-gen games. I am a FPS fan so HL2 and Doom...well, you know...

...I have not had time enough to expand into the wargames, but they look tight and I am sure I'd be a fan. Must have a life at some point though...

OMG!!! I cant believe none of you said Fallout!!!! Its got fantastic personality. You can go through the game in almost an infinite number of ways. There are very few games that come even close to the total random playability of Fallout. Fallout 2 had the same characteristics but was just too much. Fallout Tactics was fun, but was not the same, you had to go through each mission in order and it basically broke off from the original. Of course C&C, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem, and Half-Life (CS included). Prove me wrong if you dare!

I liked Max Payne, and Hitman2, but with Hitman 2 I'm having problems runing it.

Rugor
12-10-2003, 04:01 PM
Not really, there was a big thread on it at BIS forums, but Interplay has been losing money so they shut down the division and sacked everyone about 3 days ago now. We will probably see Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for the Xbox but that's it, and if it's released it will be late.

It seems to have been mostly over money.

Aww Man, I was just reading a Q&A about Van Buren. A lot of Old School Fallout guys have been working on it a lot. Whole new engine. Better graphics and waaaay better 3d. This is very bad. BTW, wasnt there a game like fallout, but set in medieval times. It came out sometime after Brotherhood.

For the most part it shouldn't be a problem with what to get but making a choice from all the games out there.

Did you read my post ( which I started over by accident? its listed in the listing..

For me its just a matter of choosing among a whole list..

You are always going to be going through this...you have replied to over a dozen responses and I don't kmow what to tell you.

let me rack my brain and give you some ideas...

Unreal Tournament
Lord of the Rhealms 3
Battlefield 1942 and all its add ons
Mafia ( on my top five list )
max payne 2
IGI2
Homeworld 2
Civilization 3
Rise of Nations
X111 ( simplified RPG )

i usually buy my games from Amazon.com.....under the heading PC games.

They give alot of info and all the categories and reviews ++

Try that! and good luck! live a little and make a choice for pete sakes..

There are just so many games out there in the PC world, that cater for so many different tastes it would be near impossible to single out a particular one! I'd suggest choosing what kind of game you feel like playing.. FPS, RPG etc, then do what I do... hunt down the best game available right now in your chosen genre.

It's a lot of fun, it's fairly slow paced because it's basically turn-based (timed turns) but that's ok because you have a lot of choices. Give it a try it's fun and you can have a blast, and if you get the gold version plus the second expansion you have a ton of options.

One great thing it has going for it is the huge amount of FREE additional content for it. There are over 3100 modules available for download, some of which rival the original campaign in length, as well as a thriving multiplayer community.

Rabbitrunner51
12-22-2003, 02:24 AM
I have posted a queston myself about the Neverwinter Nights game and since i have only tried out the demo of one of the series, then I can say I liked what I saw and played enough as to inquire about other peoples opinion.

From what I read so far, alot of people seem to think this game rocks...I have been pondering whether to waste my time and money with ordering the first and or second in the series or just start with the later edition and go from there.

I liked the fact that it is a little like Empires and Warcraft combined ( just a similarity..not a true review ) and do like games where you build up with resources and armies ect... and then play a hunt and spy game with the enemy and battle on....

i played the new Battle for Rome and did not care for it at all.

Rugor
12-22-2003, 04:02 AM
The best thing to do with NWN is get the "Gold" edition first. That's the base game and first expansion for the price of the game alone. You need the base for either expansion, and you get more if you have both so it's the best thing to start with.

Try them, if you like it, then get the second expansion. It has the best campaign of the three of them, but to get the most out of it you should have the first expansion installed as well as the game. There's a ton of free content out there, both single and multiplayer. It's the closest I have ever seen to true tabletop D&D on a computer.

Starwars Galaxies is my current obsession. Been playing it since release, sometime in July, and still having tons of fun with it.

MMORGs, no thanks-- I only like to pay for my games once; not once to buy and once a month to play.

Besides, NWN's free to play online.

Rabbitrunner51
12-23-2003, 06:12 AM
I agree that i wouldn't care to have to pay twice either.
There will probably come a time soon when we will have to pay to play anything online, but I hope its not too soon.

I haven't really played alot of strategy games online yet,and i knowi must be missing alot.

Mainly I just play BF1942 mostly, but that is why I like to read all of the Forum readers views as to get an idea of what is hot and what is not...

Some strategy games I am good at and some not so good (probably the ones i don't like ).

What do any of you think of Everquest?

I replayed my Warcraft 3 again and what a kick axx game. Just fantastic graphics and total makeup of the game.
I am on hte scoorge level and keep having to go redo my save(s) over and over.I do really well generally.very nice AI and engine.

You can always Santa to pre release order one of the simply "to die for" Games that will be released soon. I hear Half Life 2 is going through Final Beta testing as I write this. Then you can be the first person you know with a game that is surely going to be nothing short of awesome!:D

Rabbitrunner51
12-23-2003, 09:48 PM
Yes. as I have read it this game will be released sometime in March....
pre-ordering would probably be a good idea for most..but I think there will be enough to go around..beings that we have all waited so long...
I will buy this game a soon as it comes out....There are many fantastic games that have come out that equal or better this game in grahics and what not .but when I played the original..i would have to say that again..this is a very unigue game that stands out above the rest....just like I think Max Payne in hte same mold.
This company should make something of a windfall on this as it is THE most sought after game coming out.....by far!

well... it's probley cheaper in the long run with mmorpg's. Yeah you pay $12 a month for a mmorpg but it saves you from buying a new game for 40 a month.
If you really enjoy the mmorpg you'll have soo much to do and level and explore new places. Items armor.. whatever.. and since the servers are online they could just randomy make up new items and stuff to keep it new... Thats only if you enjoy the game your playing.. If you don't then no.. 1295 isn't worth it..
I hated mmorpg's untill I tried final fantasy online.. Somethign about that game really makes me enjoy paying 12 a month.. :D

Let's see in the last year I've got Neverwinter Nights and the two expansions (Two Christmas and one Birthday Presents) so net cost to me was zero. However, I could buy the lot for about $70.

That gives me access to the three official campaigns, another 3100 modules that are available for free download, and hundreds of online servers. Lots of the servers have huge amounts of content, and regular updates, and you can always find different ones to meet your own tastes.

It's cheaper than any MMORPG and gives me just as much variety. I think it's a valid alternative.
