I messed around with DarkBasic a while back, and it's by far the easiest method for producing playable and pretty good looking games fairly quickly. Having said that, it is still a programming language and needs a lot of work to become proficient in it. Don't expect to be coding the next installment of Quake with it or anything ;) Start small and work your way up. And have fun :)

If you want to master it or even just be good at it, a book on it would help you out more, as it is easier to consult (IMO; for programming I almos only use the Web to search for examples) and probably much more complete and detailed than anything you'll find on the Net; here's one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1592000096/qid=1069968619/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-5976072-7891932?v=glance&s=books
