When you state BEST CAR it leaves a lot of door open....best in what regard, best for you or? I would go along with Motor Trend's yearly evaluation and I would have to say the Lexus is STILL the best constructed car available today.

I own two cars and they are 2004 Toyota prius and 1995 Mazda mx-6.

I love The prius for traveling because I don't have to stop at gas station often at all. (61 mpg highway) Average cost 20k.

Or u could buy a used mx-6 and make it into a awesome sport car. Cost depends on condition and what year. Got mine for 6k and added 15k worth of goodies into it.

agreed... the prius is a cool car... if you havnt done any research on it, do... because it uses some pretty cool technology.

A little underpowered for my tastes though..

MY dream car 350Z or a viper... 350Z sounds a little more down to earth...

hmmm i thought this forum would have more automotive mind lol.
the 350z has some flaws. in your case, the honda s2000 would be better.

the audi tt also has some problems...it looks like a modern vw bug lol. but the innerds are so awesome. lol

i think i like the bmw 5 series for this year.

and when i said best car, i meant for YOU! i dont care about this "depends on what youre lookin for" ****.
what is the car that comes into your mind when you hear "$50,000 for a new car. and only a car."
you want a camery? whatever, fine. thats what i mean.

OK, I'm Dutch, so here are our prices:

Audi RS6: 127,390 Euro
(and I hear a Euro is $1.20 these days)
Audi S4: 72,900 Euro

We have a mad sales tax on cars you see. Oh and what does gas cost over there again?

You lucky, lucky bastards.
Come to think of it, does an RS6 really cost only $50,000 in the States?

But seriously, could you get a Nissan Skyline shipped over from Japan for $50k? Say a lightly chipped version, nothing too extreme, with, oh, 400-450bhp? They only come right hand drive, but you could run rings around an RS6 (or most other cars, for that matter) in a Skyline, and that's before any serious tuning.

RamonGTP

Yeah, I highly doubt the RS6 is 50k USD... Especially since its in VERY limited production... Atleast here in the states.

Urdvurk,

There is in fact a US version of the Nissan Skyline. It's sold as the Infiniti G35. Come to think of it, that's my pick. :)

There is in fact a US version of the Nissan Skyline. It's sold as the Infiniti G35.

Correct, but that's not the one I mean. I was referring to the Skyline GT-R, which is right hand drive only because the turbos are in the way on the left side of the engine, and Nissan couldn't be bothered to work around this for such a small market .

Oh well, sitting on the wrong side of the car couldn't be that difficult could it?

The new BMW 5series is utter trash outside and in, imo. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so outside styling is always going to be a fight. But, by and large a lot of new beemer buyers are finding cabin quality to be well below par on the new models. Cheap plastic accents galore, unsnug fit on parts causing squeaks and jitters. Oh well. I would have opted for the BMW as my best/fave, but alas that is no more.

I do love the S4, that is a great package. Hmm, even the 350z is a great bang for your buck kinda car, problems aside.

I've just recently changed my tune regarding my next purchase (after the first of the year). Originally it was the long-awaited (maybe only a few that is) VW R32. However, VW's own lack of interest in appeasing the customer has me frustrated.

So, if I had to say best car under 50K, it would have to be the RX-8. Long live Wankel!! haha :p

The new 300-series look really really nice. Although i think they resemble a little of cadilacs cause of the big grill. http://www.chrysler.com/300series/index.html?context=homepage&type=promo2

Guess it depends on what you are looking for.

For me, its the 1996 Toyota Supra TT

lol, comparing a G35 to a real skyline is funny and insulting (to the skyline) the only thing they have in common is the number of cylinders and valves.
