I have a HP KAYAK XA PII 266 system. It has intergrated sound. I would like to know how to disable the sound on board. I have checked the HP tech papers but could not find settings for it. I have checked the M/B but could not see a jumper for it. I have checked the BIOS but can only disable onboard video and nic. This is driving me crazy. HELP!!!!!

Go into the Device manager and chose "disable" for the offending device http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I do not think that will work as I would like to add a new SB soundcard.

Mntsnow is correct. You should be able to add a new card once the old one has been disabled.
