I purchased a Linksys 5 port hub. It works just fine, except for...

I normally use MSN messenger voice with one of my friends. With internet connection sharing on, with one friend I am completely unable to connect voice with them and with another, voice goes out after a few minutes and needs to be restarted, again and again. With ICS removed, everything is normal again. I have this computer and an Xbox connected to the hub with more to add in the future. Both devices connect to the internet just fine with ICS on, but it's annoying to have to remove ICS to maintain a stable voice connection in MSN. Also, in a side issue, raspppoe does not work anymore. It worked fine with my old network card but not the new one, connected or not to the hub. It claims there's no dialup modem found and all that fun stuff.

OS is XP Professional, DSL, Linksys network card that came with the hub, 512 megs of ram, all the XP updates.

So, does anyone have any idea what's wrong and how I can fix it, because I'm completely stumped.

Is it a hub, switch or a router? What is the model number on front?

It's a Linksys hub, model EFAH05W.

The hub should not affect things like that.

How many PCs are on your LAN?

It's one PC and the Xbox. It's connected like this, the modem goes to the hub and the Xbox and PC are off of the hub with one network card. Both work fine for everything, except the PCs problem with MSN voice. I'm considering trying the 2 network card in one PC setup, however that still doesn't explain or solve the original setup, even if the new setup works for this PC.

Why are you using ICS? Is it for the XBox?

Yes - you need 2 NICs.

I'm just using ICS because of its simplicity. I had attempted to set up Sygate originally and the manual showed me how to set everything up with one network card. However, with the voice problems and all... Anyway, I've set it all up with the 2 cards now and so far everything works just as before and I only need to test MSN voice to see if that works.

Yes, it's for the Xbox, but will also be for a 2nd pc and the Playstation 2 which are being set up soon. My only concern will be that if voice works fine on this PC now that it's directly connected to the ethernet modem instead of connected through the hub, will voice work on the 2nd PC since it will then be routed through this computer through the hub and not directly connected to the modem. We will see soon enough though.
