I have a ASUS A7A266 motherboard with a VERY good heat sink on my processor, I have a AMD 1GHZ 133FSB processor. With that 133FSB processor and the heat sink with thermal grease the processor is reaching a temp of 130'F...ON BOOTUP!!! now.... I dont know what the problem is, i am thinking that it its because of the FSB being 133 instead of 266 which the motherboard is optimally designed for. Maybe you have seen a problem like this before. But if you know for sure if its a problem because of the 133FSB on the 266FSB motherboard then reply. Thanks

try to see if the heat sink has been installed correctly.if yes and u are having such high temperatures, change ur heatsink before u have to change ur processor.and i dont think it has anything to do with FSB

You are running then at about 54C which is a little warm indeed but not extremely hot for an Athlon either. I would say you do need to troubleshoot and repair the cooling.

Regarding bus speed, 133mhz is the correct bus speed for the Athlon 266bus chip -the speed is effectively doubled like in DDR memory -I don't see a problem there.

The key here may be "ON BOOTUP". Tell us what happens after running for some time or gaming. Does it get hotter, stay the same, etc. 130 deg sounds awful warm just starting up. May have some problem with temperature measuring devices..

just a thought
