okay,
im building my own case out of plexiglass, anti-static of course, and i got a few questions, first off how can i raise the mobo fromt eh wall so it dowsnt tought tha wall , to keep it from being grounded right, and secondly how can i get a on off soft pwoer switch, u know the one you hook up to the mobo. can i make one or do i buy one from a store, il be sure to post pictures of my project as soon as im done, if ur wondering what im putting in the case im building check out my post called system comments under gen tech. anyways pre-thanks to any repolies that i recieve.

Jak,
If you are using plexiglass, you need not worry about the MB touching, it will do no harm, you will need to space it just enough to clear the solder contacts, just to stop it rocking. I suggest you use small peices of plexiglass (about half inch sq) stuck to the side, it will show through though, failing that you could drill holes and get some brass stand offs, make them a feature.
As for the switch, buy one, they are very cheap, you need a "push to make momentary switch", the current needed is very low so just get one you like, any one will do. There are some very low profile switches available, designed for PCB mounting that you could glue in place, they have a selection of cap colours.
PS
Please spell check your posts, I cant translate very well this early in the morning.

ok i found abunch of sites that have that switch its inly like a buck, but anyways now i need a soldering iron for this project right, and also where can i buy the attachment so as it can attach to the keyboard, i guess ill need a jumper ending right, but where to buy? also what guage wire do i need and any specials type?
jak
can anyone help me? has anyone doen the same thing im atempting to do. well i found most of the stuff at the local radio shack, switch, solder iron and solder btw should i be using the paste solder or the wire solder that u totally melt. im totally new at soldering, and i still need to find the thing i can hook the wires up to as a jumper to plug into the mobo, know what im talking about?
anyways please help me
jak
ok is this what i want, they are called jumper blocks and they connect two jumper pins together, is there anyway i can modifiy it so as the wire running to the power on switch is what copnnects the 2 pins? or should i keep looking http://www.pc-extras.com/prods/bsjmpr.html please tell me if this is what i want.

Jak,
Soldering, you will need to practice to get it right (tidy), it is a bit of a skill.
As for the link to the MB, I have not seen ones designed to take wires for sale anywhere (they must be somewhere), you could use two of the ordinary links, push a stiff wire into one of the holes so it holds firmly and then push the link onto the MB using the other hole. Some types can be put on either way up, these would be best for you. Not too well explained, but I hope you understand.
The wire needs to be nothing special, if you find one that fits snugly into the link you can use that, although it may be a bit stiff. Alternatively solder a more flexible piece onto the stiff bit that goes into the link.
Be careful, the insulation on the wire will probably shrink back when you heat it up.
I always use the wire type solder, apply it to the point where the iron meets the work, dont use too much, and allow the solder to flow.

ok so your talking about putting one of the wires into 1 end of the link and the other wire onto another link and the putting the empty spots on the links onto the jumpers pins on the mobo?
also, should i parctice soldering on sumthin else before i do it onto my mobo, what is the worse thing that could happen and how to prevent it, maybe practice on putting a mod chiop onot my playstatoin before solderin wires onto a switch and mobo

I think your problem is attaching lights, sw. etc to the MOBO. ?? do not solder wires to the MOBO. check thrift shops. comp builder stores, for a junked at box, what you need is the wires with the socket ends that plug onto the pins on the MOBO
hope this helps..
i think your right http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif no i know what i need i just need to find a place to buy it, right now at radio shack i can buy momentary switch, lights are everywhere, wire duh http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif, um soldering iron and solder(for wire to switch/led connection, shrink wrap wire tubing. now the part im missing is either a wire with jumper already attached, or a place where i can buy a jumper to plug the wire into.!!!!!!! and also anyone know where i can find replacement/longer playstation parts, ill need a longer ribbon cable that connects the contollers to the mainboard on the playstation, can anyone help with that too. i dunno what type it is, but i know it exists cause some dude did the same thing that im attempting to do, that is integrate a playstation rihgt into a pc case that im building. ill keep yall updated
