I have a friend who contacted me asking for help retrieving some old files from her old DOS based machine which as an application called WordStar. I remember this application back when I had a DOS machine, but never used it.
She needs to recover those files and hopefully open them in a Windows environment.
I told her that I believe the files can be recovered to a diskette on drive A: thru a copy command, but after that.. I don't know what else.
Even if the files can be archived to a diskette(s), I have no earthly idea what the text format might be and if the files can be read in any Windows type text application like Word Perfect, MS Word, Word Pad etc. etc.
Anybody here have any input?

Dang!!.. I went and looked to see if the thread had been moved to the Community forum!..ha!
Slide on the ice??.. I think not!!
Mother Nature and Father Time have already done a number in that area, and an ice slide would get the rest!!
Cheers

I went and looked the page over tho.. and I think the answer is there..the problem now would be..could she learn DOS commands and recover the files to a diskette

Gosh bovon, Wordstar!! that takes me back a bit, to 1992 even. The files will import to word and wordperfect fine, only issue i ever had was that it loses the formatting if you use"_______2 or "-------" to split passages or paragraphs up. Thx for the memory, Bovon, and keep pluggin away FF, don't let the illiterate sons of guns grind you down. or something.:) :t
PS rampage, like your style.:D
