Does the processor speed have a direct influence on the time it takes to copy cd's?
My Bro Has a Athlon 800Mhz machine & it takes Frikkin ages to burn stuff

Of course it does, although maybe not an exact proportion.

Hard drive space and speed affect burn rates. Older burners (4-8x) are pretty "pokey" too.
If the burn is done in two stages (image and burn), connecting the two optical drives on different channels will help. That will allow "buring on the fly".

I had an Athlon 800 with a 16x about 6 months ago and it wasnt slow at all. Was rather impressed myself.
I would have him try to get newer IDE drivers for starters. Or swap drives around. Mine were on same channel and worked fine but his might be differant.
Or maybe its just a slow burner. :D Whats the speed.?

52X burner on the same channel as a Teac 30sumfing times cdrom
I was just testing it wiv a music cd to see if all was working
It is but slowly
Trouble is the two cdroms are on the same channel as the Hdd is miles away from anywhere & the lead can't be in two places @ once............ Ahh Ferk it I'll have to move the HDD by the looks of things :p
