InocIt used to be free, I think in the last couple of months, it's become unfree.
Our company and I use Vet. Which wasn't always, but is now, one of CA's products.
Works Fine, R.

I'm using Norton AV 2001. It works real well and updates itself while I'm on the internet. You never have to mess with any updating, it does it all.
I use fprot (the old dos version). With all the bad things I've read about nortons products I'd stay away of them http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm not connected to the internet - ever - so it doesn't matter whether it has active scanning or not.
F-secure is nice imho (that's what my previous employer used).

The latest version of McAfee has software compatibility issues up the ****. Steer clear. I would recommend Norton for the average user and AVX (http://www.centralcommand.com/) for the more involved.

PC-cillin 2000 works better than the older versions and you can get it for $19.95 for a year through Staples. The only compatibility problems I've found are with the POP3 Scan in W2000Pro when using Eudora and some of the other external e-mail programs.
Norton and McAffe DO NOT stop malicious pranks such as "Buttons", PC-cillin does! Some machines with Norton and up to date virus def.'s allowwed the Kornakova virus to still infect, PC-cillin didn't.
Norton is a HUGE resource hog!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I've also had to repair a couple of computers that the other Norton products have screwed up royally.
I'd just up for another year of PC-cillin or up-grade to the PC-cillin 2000, if it was up to me!

Any product of Trend is usually great. You can still use the PC-cillin program and manually download the pattern and/or engine updates from the site.
Norton is a resource hog and likes to take over PC's by intergrating Norton into everything.
