I really hope someone can help me here

I downloaded a file from Kazaa (yeah i know) and it was an .iso file (incidently it wasn't what it was meant to be) i double clicked on this file and noiw i am unable to delete it.
It states "Cannot delete file it may being used by another person or program" Now i know it's not another person so it i thought it has added a line to the registry but i can't find anything about it there.
I also checked sys.ini and win.ini....nothing.

I have ran norton antivirus and it says there's no virus so really it's just a massive file that can't Bl**dy delete.

I thought maybe i could delete it in dos but how do you get in dos from windows XP?

Please someone help?

Try deleting the file in Safe Mode. You might want to check your system out with SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) too if you're in the habit of running stuff you find on KaZaA.

This may sound daft but how do you get safe mode in windows XP?

You reboot and hit F8 until you see a list of startup options on your screen, safe mode being one of them.:t

In a word, you cant, unless your HDD is in Fat32 format, in which case you can use a standard win9x bootdisk, or you have an NTFS bootdisk

As previously suggested, Safemode is probably your best bet, or deleting it from another machine if your netwokred

Thanks guys

I actually tried a WinME boot disk but that didn't work because i have the NTFS system.

Still got it deleted by using safe mode and command promt, safe mode didn't work alone but in command mode i got the sucker.

I've learned my lessons guys no more ckicking on dodgy files :)
