Yes i knwo its a nuisance, but does anyone know how to use it (or knwo where i can instructions for it)?

"net help" gives all the commands you can use. Then "net (command) /help" gives help on individual commands.

the best thing with it is when your friend sits down across the lab. . . and you've been working several hours in there (where it is SOOO boring) - to use the net send function and make the computer complain about them punching the keys too hard, or waking it up from it's nap. . . whatever. Of course it only works on someone that is not too familiar with computers:)

I use it quite extensively. What do you want to do with it?

Drive Shares:
NET USE DriveLetter: \\server\share

Printer Shares
NET USE LPTx: \\server\share

Close open Files (Handy to kick many user out at once):
Run NET FILES first to get the ID of then file you want to close
Run NET FILES ### /CLOSE to eliminate the network locks

Start/Stop Service
NET START Service Name
NET STOP Service Name
Example: NET STOP "Norton Antivirus"

Im purely interested in it for the messaging options, saves me having to shout across the house to whoever is on the other machine.

You can also use network name such as
net send computer1 What's up?
(no back slashes)

or if you're all logged into the same NT domain you can send it by their user name, and it will find them at whichever computer they are logged on to
