I would like to upgrade from Win 95. I have read numerious WIn2000 Pro vs. Win XP Pro posts and decide to go with 2000. I installed a corporate version to see if i would like it and do... so on to acquiring a legit copy.

I visited Pricewatch and found a OEM 2000 pro w/o Cert of Auth. for $91.00. Seems like a good deal since I paid that for a copy of XP Home.

Question, how important is the Cert of Auth. I am assuming, I will be purchasing a Legal not "cracked copy", since they are supplying the key. The supplier appears legit.

Any comments and feedback about the OS packages offered on PW would be appreciated.

If it does not have the Cert of Authority, it is not legit.:(

Technically it's not legit Unless you have the Cert of Auth.

Win2k pro can easily be copied and installed on thousands of computers...

So they are openly advertising the sale illegal copies? Why would not MS be all over this. Am I missing something here?

Please don't go there.

Just get the COA and slap the sticker on the PC. If you want to, you can reinstall Win2K using the new product key.
