That is a great motherboard, I just built a simular system with it. If you want to save a buck, Newegg sometimes has Antec performance II cases with PSU and one fan on sale pretty cheap. These comes in beige, dark gray and black I think. I like your choices though and would have to give you a thumbs up on what you have listed there.

My father wanted help upgrading his system, he said he didn't want to spend more than 800$ on it.

I'm not sure going from a KT400a board back to KT400 board just to save $10 is a good move. The KT400 chipset is much more troublesome than the KT400a so it doesn't seem like it would be worth the savings. I have not had first hand experience with this board though, so I can't speak to it specifically.

I've had no problems with any KT400 board that I've installed (3). I'm about to build another,
The biggest "problem" with the Shuttle is that USB ports 3-6 must be purchased. Only two are included on the backplane.

Good to know. I have read a few things that made the KT400 out to be bad so I have avoided it. I can see great potential for building budget systems with that chipset though.

This (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=1&submit=Go&description=lanboy) case is nice with a 350W blue LED light in it and only $79. Lightweight, carrying handle. Sure, not that many drive ports in it, but with a $500 dollar limit you wont need that many ports in it.

I see youve already picked out your case. If you were still looking at the LANBoy that neverwhere suggested, i own one. Its a very good case for the price, the only real downside is that it tends to heat up a little, otherwise its a nice case and the power supply of 350W seems to be enough for me.

I am in complete agreement. I too own a LanBoy, and he is right. It does tend to run hot, so just mod the window for another fan or two and your more than set :D

That's my suggestion, you might be a little short in money though  ... $136 for 512 ram?? I would never shop there... $181 mobo? Wtf man, you trying to go expensive? Just pay $115 tops for a mobo. You dont need anything more expensive. A Pentium core? Eww. Ncrapia? No thanks, Ill stick with ATI.
Basically your paying WAY more than you should have to. You could save ~200+ just from shopping elsewhere....

At TechIMO, the field is mandatory. I'm thinking it should be here too - either a real location or nothing - period.

Oh no You DIDN'T!!!!!!!!
Frankly, I think that it would be curteus that if the person requestion help with a decision of purchasing the parts or just a part for a system that they state in what country they live in. That way we would not have to play the guessing game on their location. :t
