i find it hard to believe that someone would actually sit down and type one character at a time to create something like what's below. How do they do it?
[ok, i had to delete it 'cos it looked terrible once i clicked the 'submit now' button]

Alot of ascii art reminds of the old Atari Computer / Commodore / Apple II days.

Yea, it does take a while and always started bothering my eyes after an hour.

Brings back the days of BBS's, I remember using a program called ACID something to make that stuff, except you could make it animated, I used to have an animated AscII sig, But this art was all that was used on logons, there was also a program that would convert JPG's to ASCII art, though the name is long behind me. (bout 5-6 years) Used to Co-sop a couple of boards, but always had a Member do the art. =] takes a lot of skill.

Though I doubt these are the ones that I used in the past. there are others but all you have to do is search the net for "Convesion program JPG ascii" and they all come up.
http://www.acid.org/asciid/

For some wild art and other neat progs from the warez courier dayz ACID was a group of ASCII artists.

ASCII art rules I used to do a lot of it and also ANSI art when I ran a BBS, I used a program called Acid Draw.. it made it quite easy to draw ASCII and ANSI art.

Wizzard~Of~Ozz - Man!! That first link you posted is pretty wild!! There's a **** load of ascii art there!!
Thanx.
Found a couple of conversion programs. First one i tried didn't do a good job. I'll see how the others fare.

Havoc, Thanks for the reminder about ANSI art. Forgot what the coloured ASCII was called, and also for the ACID Draw, as you see in previous post I knew it was called ACID something. That and TheDRAW =] To many memories of good old days before the internet made it so big.
