I have been trying for the pase week to get this game to work. I get the game loaded in without a problem, but when I put in disk 4 and click on the shortcut icon to run the game I get the error "Please insert FS 2004 disc 4, select ok and restart". I have Win XP Pro, and Invidia 64MB graphics card, Athlon AD 2400+ processor and 528 MB RAM as well as a 120 GB Hard Drive. I took the original game back and bought a new game to see if it was the disk and it wasn't. I also took out the CD-ROM drive and got a different, same error. Any other game I've tried to play works fine except this one. I've loaded the game on three other computers and it also works fine. I'd love to play the game so I would appreciate any ideas you have. Thanks

Try reinstalling it - first uninstall though.
Sounds like you had a similar problem to mine - bought red hat 9 at best buy and the !@#$ installer would not recognize disc 2 for disc 2. What I did is downloaded the iso for disc 2, burned it, and guess the @## what? it read it! That defeated the purpose of me buyin it =(
same thing happened with disc 3, must of been a bad day at the factory?
So let us know if a uninstall-reinstall works. if not, well theres no iso you can dl.

man - that makes no sense - particularly because it installed on the others
try this link
here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325100)
ran into exactly the same problem - not with an M$ app, but when the first install didn't work - it left a bunch of "temporary" files in either the windows temp or another game temp folder - that was the problem
bet if you delete those and start over maybe that might help? worked for me.....
and welcome to sysopt :t

Thanks for your help. I actually searched for a No CD patch on yahoo.com and found one. Downloaded and put it in the flight simulator files folder and it worked fine. Still don't understand why the CD couldn't be read, but at least I got it to work.
