Howdy!:) I hope ya'll will be easy on me, I'm kinda new at this.
I have been very involved in flight simulations over the past few years, and have tried to keep up with computer advances so as to improve my imersion in the games.
I,ve never benchmarked before, and my first 3DMark03 score was so abysmal(1487) that I thought it best to seek some advice.
First my specs:

Epox 8RDA...bios in turbo mode
AMD XP 2600+ Thouroughbred..currently running @ 2153Mhz
NVIDIA GF4 Ti4200 128Mg...running @ 249.8 core, 535.5 mem
Creative Audigy Platnum..5.1
Samsung Syncmaster 750 MsT
Maxtor 80 GB Ultra ATA 133
1024MB Crucial PC 3200..166FSB
MS XP Home...SP1

What specificaly can I do to get better FPS? I have a vauge idea about what to do, but need direction. All the forums I've visited are way beyond my current understanding, and no one seems to have the patience to walk me trough getting the most from my machine.

Perhaps there is some one here who will take pity on me and tell me how to set this machine up. From what I have read it's not a bad setup, and should be doing a whole heeluva lot better than it is.

Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Only way you will see an improvment in your score is to buy a video card with Direct X 9 hardware support. 3dmark03 is not a benchmark of overall system performance, it is a benchmark of direct x 9 graphical performance, something the ti4200 as a direct x 8 card, is lacking in

Give 3dMark 2001SE a go, and tell us what you manage with that.

3dMark2003 is a DX9 benchmark, and you don't have a DX9 video card, thats why you have bad marks. 3dMark2001 will give you much more significant results.

Not many people over 2000 with Ti4200's don't worry about it
