When ever I get on car or cycle in VC my game sometimes freezes for a second or two and then it comes around again.

System Specs:

8RDA+ (Newest nForce drivers)
2500+ @3200+
512 Crucial DDR400
ATI AIW 9800 Pro (Catalyst that came with card)

The main reason why I haven't upgraded the drivers for my video is because I don't want the card catching on fire like the previous version of the Catalyst did to the 9800 pro's

The game freezes whether I have a trainer on or now, and wether I have a no-cd or not. Even runing it from the retail cd it will do this

Also another weird problem is after I completed the game, my sniper riffle won't do any damage when I shoot from it.

Thanks In Advanced.

I have had this problem for a long time, but I finally fixed it. If I walk around (in vice city) for a couple minutes, my cd drive winds down. Then when I get in a car, the cd drive has to wind up again to play the radio, and it makes my system hang for a few seconds. The solution that some people here at sysopt gave me was to get a drive imaging program. I got Virtual CD with a 30-day trial. Works great. There's also Alcohol 120% that has a 30-day trial. What it does is makes a virtual drive on your computer that contains an image of your CD. I have a virtual drive with Vice City on it. It shows up as drive F. Vice City doesn't hang anymore using this method, try it.

I have clone cd, I will try it.

Thanks for the info :)

I had a no-cd patch but I don't think it helped.

Show me ONE reputable source that reports their 9800pro or any other ati series burning up from cat any version! Aint one. Cause it dont exist. Its not gonna burn your mon up either. 3.9's here I ran the 3.8's neither made card hot (9800) neither made mon catch on fire. BOTH fixed the fog in Never Winter Nights a game I am fond of. Rumour mill just dont stop churnin I guess. Add a Oclock feature for temp sensor equiped XT's and add VPU reset -suddenly its burning up cards and crt mons. Why not TFT L.C.D.'s or isnt anyone creative enuff to think of that?

*Modded cards excluded, your on your own their. As it isnt how ati/manufacturer shipped it*

Just the thought of having a set of drivers push your card to the point were it will smoke out makes you shake a bit. Especially when the card is worth around $400

I've been away from home, so tomorrow I'm going to load up an image of VC and set the new Catalyst drivers :D
