I heard a rumor that Intel will slash it's P4 prices in half (probly in a month). Is it true? My sources say there was an article in windrivers.com regarding this.

My sources say there was an article in windrivers.com regarding this. edwelly 08-10-2001, 01:02 PM Ok, so why do some says AMD is better than Intel. What are the reasons...? ---edwelly daveleau 08-10-2001, 01:09 PM Some threads of interest: Intel cuts prices: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/012133.html AMD VS Intel: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/012107.html Duron VS Celeron http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/012129.html Dave Nick CPU 08-10-2001, 01:10 PM I belive that both chips are good. I also belive that for the home user AMD is the best bet. It is a good solid gaming chip and is offered at a good price to consumers. Intel chips are designed for use in many platforms and many of their chips are specially designed for business applications. Intel also pushes a very large marketing campaign that gives them a greater share of the market. My advise is this. Buy what you like. I like Intels because I have used them for many years and I have always been pleased. I would like to try AMD's becuase of there great value and impresive power. Bula 08-10-2001, 03:49 PM I would say Intel and AMD have their strong points. Most would agree that if it's your PC than AMD is fine since you can maintain it. However for a client who never opens the case to even blow out the dust bunnies, Intel would be better. I just wish Transmeta makes it big w/ their Java based processor which might never happen. daveleau 08-11-2001, 12:12 AM http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,5095317,00.html Here is one story on it at ZDNet. In a word, the answer is yes though. Enjoy Dave Bula 08-11-2001, 12:50 AM Thanks Dave, I might just postpone buying a new PC. AMD is good but I would rather go w/ a processor that has been extensively tested and has less heat problems. Thanks again Nick CPU 08-11-2001, 12:53 AM Be careful Bula. While I am currently a big Intel fan. I know better then to say bad things about AMD on this board. [This message has been edited by Nick CPU (edited 08-10-2001).] SysOpt.com
