At a school where I do some work as a tech, I've been asked to do some lectures on PC repair, including component selection for scratch built PC's.

I'd like to present a chart of CPU models (including Intel and AMD's cute little names) with socket type/pin count, compatible motherboard chipsets, clockspeed ranges, dates of manufacter, etc. I've seen some charts online, but none that were comprehensive. I'm mainly looking for info on P4's and Duron and later AMD's. I know I should be able to compile a list on my own, but I'm lazy. If anybody has seen something like this online, I'd appreciate the links.

Thanks

Looked for something similar myself not long ago. Here, try this

That sounds like what you want.

This one good as well, just AMD processer speeds and such though.

After looking at that first list that you posted, i remembered hearing about the sledgehammer about 4 years ago, so in actality, i probably knew about the opteron back then, before they really released any info about what it was really supposed to be.

Interesting chart to look at, lot of history there. Gues the 386's and older were just to boring for mention ( or time consuming ). Somebody has put a lot of time into it. I keep a printed out version in my toolbag.

Got one for my Dad to help him identify good or bad possibilities for mobo saving in our recycling business. He moaned he needed one so i found that after searching and i dont think hes ever used it.

Thanks, crossedup, that was more than I'd hoped for. I guess I didn't remember there being so many socket types for 486's. I appreciate the post.
