I'm looking into getting this setup in my area. The dialup ISPs are pretty much worthless and the 1-way cable isn't much better! We've been hearing promises of the 2-way upgrade for over a year and still nothing! They are now saying sometime next year!
The outfit I talked with is out of Rigby, Idaho - Axxess Telcom LLC, website is: http://www.axxess.net For a 2mpbs wireless T1, the cost is $29.95 per month with a $450 one time equipment fee, is this reasonable?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Wow! That's a nice fat pipe at a very nice price. Still $450 for equiptment - ouch! Personally, I'd jump on it if the company was known to be reliable and they guaranteed the 2mbps bandwidth. Heck, I'd go for it even if they only guaranteed 1/2 that....

My apartment complex HAD wireless for a while. Took two months to get it up and running. Worked for two months then they went belly up. NEVER got close to the "up to" T1 speeds.

Got it here at work and I know we pay alot more than that! I'd go for that in a second.

Thats a **** sweet price, ouch on the equipment fee though.
I live in Vienna, Austria, I have ADSL, with a 1 gig dl limit per month.
Believe it or not i pay $50 monthly.
Wish we had wireless T1 for that price here.

It could be a good deal if they can deliver what's promised. I worked for a few months as the installation tech for a 1 year old comapany selling wireless T1. It is a technology in it's infancy still and has issues that may or may not be a problem for you. Problems that we were having was small dropouts with occasional packet loss due to environmental problems, security issues (it's basically one big LAN) and there was no bandwidth management.
It was rare to see a full T1 speed consistent at any particular customer site. But the good side was the connection was syncronus unlike cable and dsl. If the company has it together, it can be a good deal.
