Anyone have any first hand experience with this board (http://english.aopen.com.tw/products/mb/AK77-400N.htm) or any Aopen board for that matter.

Thanks in advance...

I guess Aopen is the red headed step child of motherboards aye...hmmmm

Maybe it's just me, but I wont buy anything labeled ALi, Acer, Acer Open, AOpen or BenQ. Maybe when they get to the letter "C"... :p

Yeah, I think I'll just stick to what I know and buy an MSI....trying new products is overrated anyway ;)

AOpen boards are generally OK, it's just their peripherals that stink.

I use to use A-Open drives. Used them in over 50 builds. Absolutely no problems. They have the fastest Nforce2 mobo bar none - however it is flakey ;) Wont run right. Thier VIA mobos however run fine. Research on any product is they key for me. Im not afraid to use A-Open, as long as I research the product. the A-Open board you mentioned is actually very good. Ben-Q builds extremely nice LCD's, and thier optical drives are nice IMO. I go by the 'exact product' and not name in question - although certainly that "can" play a part at times. A-Open has a history of "hit or miss" that's for sure. So I can understand peoples reluctance. If they could have gottten the Nforce2 board dialed in - it would have bested all by a very large margin. Read up here, as you will see it was so fast at stock speeds it was an anomilie, however it did not translate to overclocking.

Thanks for the reply, I was unable to find any reviews on this specific board so I went ahead and bought an MSI KT4AV-L for this build. This board still looks interesting though but didn't want to chance it since it's going in the wifes new computer so the responsibility of fixing anything that goes wrong will be on my shoulders.

Heh, in that case I don't blame you :) Don't want to get on the wrong side of your better half!
