Best driver update I've used yet...

I use a Raptor and a 60GB Maxtor as my backup/data drive, but check out device manager, disk drives.

THere' sumthin in dar about DMA settins...

Oh, and I play Tiger Woods 2004 like crazy...and this NForce drivers set fixes the "laggy" feeling I had before. There is a ton of detail (trees, grass, etc.) and a ton of sound, from announcers...crowd...

Just played 54 holes, not a single problem.
All this time I thought it was my Ti4200...

Yep, it's a keeper!!

Installed without a hitch, It even left my ATI Smartgart untouched (usually the first victim).

Wrote a couple CDR's (Data and Music) without so much as a whiff of trouble, The Data test from HDD didn't display any "buffer underrun prevented xx times" at 48x, which means transfer rates have gone up also! The last time I tried to optimise the nVidia lan for "throughput" instead of "CPU" the system froze me out ...not this time.

So far, so good. ;)

Let's see if it will fix the echo from hell in Vietcong (all shots you'd fire with EAX on sound like your in a [*-deleted word-*] cave, but worse, MUCH worse) and some messed up EAX reverbs in other games. Though I don't see how running 2.1 audio with a 2.5ghz process extolls a heavy load. It ran fine before, then I updated the drivers and even after a rollback the sounds were junk. Did a reinstall, a repair, practically everything. Now EAX is generally off, hopefully this fixes this, as the dynamic range is dropped immensely with EAX off, not just the directionality (which I can't sense as I'm deaf in one ear).

well they didnt fix the EAX in Halo, when u fire a gun you dont get the sound of it shooting nor the sound of it hitting the wall, well it does make a sound of hitting the wall but it makes it sound like its 1000000 Miles away like a faint whisper. But when i turn off EAX the sounds are better in Halo.i thought it would be fixed :(

Do they install over the top or you guys remove the old , then install fresh? The 2.45's gave me hell on 1 of my systems last go around.

i installed mine over the regular drivers. the one that gave me hell was downloading the update off of windowsupdate.com for the nvidia sound drivers

I installed it over. Every time I tried to uninstall my Nforce or Nvidia display drivers...my system puked...

Luckily, I ghost my C:\ weekly...and all my data is on my second HD.

I've installed my last video and Nforce drivers over it...and no issues.

I installed OTT too!

I think my Plextor Plextools is now failing to recognise it's own Plextor CD-RW drive. Gonna have to cold boot and maybe re-install to be certain.

Installed on both systems. The Audigy 2 Platinum is definantly going back in the gaming rig - I'm not selling it to my friend like I said I was. The problem which was most pronounced in Vietcong is "fixed" in that I can use EAX, just that it sounds like I'm not using it with the gun or weapon I'm using (or anything that eminates in the forward arc so to speak). The gunners on side of me have deep sounding rifle blast while mine sound like a .22 when using an AK. So they basically instead of fixing the problem, just went in and tore the code that was causing the problem out and slapped some **** over it to make it work like it would without EAX just as before practically. How ****ing brilliant. Also installs the FX graphics drivers for you, whether you want them or not. On my main rig, no problem, I just need to slap the Audigy 2 back in to get decent sound, on the other machine I just need to stick the old 45 series detonators back on it (thankfully I have a copy of them) since I rarely do much gaming on it, I still don't want that FX **** on there. Oh, and rivatuner doesn't recognize the FX drivers, hence the new riva release I'm guessing after reading it's fact and the fact that it mentioned it didn't support the new driver set (it does, just it can't override what can't be overridden to begin with).

what "FX ****?"

Loaded just fine on an Nforce2 board but when my older Asus A7N266-E tried to load it, it got the "installshield" part & just stopped. Had the AV turned off. Could it be the ATI/Sapphire 8500 that's causing the problem?

Sorry to hear that...SS.
I've got my Ti4200, and Riva tuner works with it perfectly...me confused:confused:

bubbalou...
I doubt it. Strawbs loaded it no problem with his ATI card in place.

OK! Plextools is definitely fubar'd, that leaves me with only Nero and EasyCD to choose from ...no great shakes there then! ;)

XP seems to be taking a little longer to load than usual, and if initial results hold true, Memory read\write access speed seems to have lost something (would explain slower loading OS)! I'll have to do more testing with this new Mem controller driver and the previous verion to be certain tho'.

XP is loading the same for me...

Used Aida to check read/write times, same as before.
Let me know if you come with anything...;)

Strawbs

I tested with Aida and Sandra ...the controllers from the 3.13 and 2.03 (2.45 drivers have the same date as new drivers)! results are virtually identical. Sandra has my HDD performance increased from 21,xxx to 28,xxx. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for the answer to my percieved slower boot times!

Yup, they're here to stay.

If anyone has trouble loading these new drivers ...make sure you disable your anti-virus software first.

Good to hear, bud.
I disabled my AV, and closed my Sygate, just to be sure...

My Raptor was pretty darn swift before, I'll have to check for the heck of it, and see if there's a difference.

All I know is I can play my Tiger woods without it "gettin Jiggy" and the sounds are pefect..I might even say deafening as the crowd roars...:p

I'm in a good state audio wise on my main rig due to the fact that I had an Audigy 2 plat to carry over from a previous rig. If not, well I'd not be very happy to say the least with the Soundstorm Audio. Heard of several others with this problem crop up with ust Vietcong - happens to a MUCH lesser extent of loss of "center" channel low end on other D9 games and I also don't suffer the reverb from hell. I don't know what is going on. Pterodon can't pin it down and nvidia says it doesn't exist. I can literally play to the point to where all I'm hearing is echo's if there is enough shooting on the screen, and it is really high pitched echoes with no midrange and a ton of bass reverb. On the other board which doesn't have Soundstorm, it works fine. Damned Nvidia. As for FX, got rid of that on the "school" comp with the old vid drivers (45's). On my main rig, it is ATI, so I don't need to worry about that buggy ****.

I chanced the IDE drivers, noticed some read increases in games, from saved levels, like it is caching it in atticipation. Haven't noticed a change in load times for XP though - I'll have to check on my stock machine and see to confirm that. My Aida32 benches for memory are the same from what I recall.

*mutters numerous swear words whilst coughing and spluttering*

Brought back the wierd 'restarts cause my DVD-ROM to dissapear' thing and my CDRW stopped recognising CD-R's, ah joy

A shame really because they look to have fixed what niggles ive had with DVD audio, back to 2.45 me goes

I've found the source of my slow boot times and it has nothing to do with nVidia at all!

My C: (6.8gb) was literally full to bursting, with Hibernate (hiberfil.sys), System Restore and Pagefile.sys hogging over 3.5gb between them  (my Programs are situated on my D: ). A little house cleaning, disabling of Hibernation and shoving the Pagefile onto a partition with 29gb free space has seen boot times improve dramatically. Norton's "Speed Disk" should finish the job nicely!! :D
