I just sent the following message to Logitech support:
"Dear Sir or Madam,
I own a Logitech Trackman Vista and recently upgraded my computer system. After reinstalling Windows 2000 Pro, with all service pack and security updates, including Service Pack 2, and my normal software and hardware drivers my system became unstable.
I located a Microsoft knowledge base article Q302971 titled:
"Stop 0x1E" or "Stop 0xc5" After You Install Service Pack 2 and You Use Logitech Mouse Drivers.
I restored my Drive Image file, removed the software for my Trackman and my system problems went away.
I then made another image file and downloaded 929b100en.exe (Version 2.29.3) from your site. I installed the drivers and the system problems returned.
Your company competes with Microsoft in the sale of pointing devices so I am not surprised that their upgrades conflict with your hardware and software while not conflicting with the other and non-competing hardware on my computer.
Nevertheless, it has taken me a couple of hours to fix the problems and I cannot afford this much time. I feel forced to switch to a Microsoft product to eliminate these problems in the future.
Your company has made my decision easier by:
1. Forcing me to accept a cookie from your site and then writing your name in my "index.dat" file before allowing me to download the driver upgrade.
2. Putting a shortcut to "EBay" on my computer without my permission when I installed the software."
The MS error message in the repeating BSOD always started 0x0000000C.
