Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Diablo II Map-Hack Warning Issued

What I have posted below is something that allot of other gaming hosts are looking into, EA sports are in the process at looking into black listing Cheaters and Hackers, disabling there CD Key also, I just hope to runs onto HL, CS, TF, and other online games, for the makers of Diablo I think allot of company’s will be sure to fallow, as a gamer I hate nothing more than cheaters and TKers, what are your thoughts on CD key banning and removing accounts from server?

this is a copy and paste of the warning from http://www.battle.net/, if you would like to read the full story just click on the link.

In keeping with our aggressive stance against hacks and cheats, we will no longer issue advance warnings regarding the use of Diablo II "map-hack" programs. Using a map-hack violates the Battle.net Terms of Use Agreement, and Diablo II accounts that are now found to be used in conjunction with a map-hack will be subject to closure and the CD Keys with which these accounts are associated are subject to being disabled.
We will continue to monitor Battle.net for instances of cheating and hacking and we will continue to take action as needed.

As always, thank you for your continued support; with your help we have been able to keep Battle.net a fun and safe place to play Blizzard games,

I think its great. You cheat, you get your CD key banned. If you really liked the game go buy it again and don't cheat anymore. Helps the gaming population, and will probably help sell a few extra copies too.

As long as the system is SOUND and STURDY I don't have a problem with that. However, if you've ever played CS and gotten banned because someone THOUGHT you were a cheater, well... didn't that chafe your balls just a bit?

Yes its happened to me, and lord knows I was P@#$ about it, but, in a way i did cheat but I didn’t realize that in my cgf file I had some codes changed for easy access for team to team conversations, so that was the reason I got banned but I did fix that lil problem, but ye it would tick me of if I was banned for something I didn’t do, but I’m sure they are going to have some sort of program that will show if someone is cheating or not. I Think its going to be a good idea, lets hope it work outs for all the reasons magua said

Except Blizzard isnt banning accounts after someone being reported as a cheater. Replays prove everything.

Actually, I dont believe in the way CS/TFC works with "reported" cheating. If someone on a secure server thinks you hack (because you pwn their asses cuz they are noobs) they can get you banned from ALL secure servers. Thats just total BS in my opinion. Thats why I never play on secure servers unless they are CAL/CPL affiliates (sine the CAL/CPL ppl arent noobs). I stick with the Cheating Death ones because they cant get you banned for good if you get banned from one noob server. However, if you do hack, then im all for ****ing you over for being an ******* enough to hack the game. Go get a life man, its a game. Get good, or get out.

i once joined a CS server and right away they go "it must be that guy that did so and so" and immediately banned me before i even got into a team 'cause i was using the same username as this person. no hacks no cheats ever.

Thanks for sharing... but?

Anyway, We're not talking about getting banned and having to go to a different server (or some such), once you get banned, thats it. So It better be a [darn] good system. S`all I'm sayin.

Thats why I was talking about Blizzard, not CS. You arent getting banned by some other player, you get banned by Blizzard for being a proven cheat.

ok, anyone else having MAJOR lag issues with the new 1.10 patch for D2? I dont understand why I would have a 5000+ ping on D2 but not on any other online game ...

Whats maphack do now? I remember when it first came out it really wasnt a cheat just more information to look at on the map.

Magua

Not a cheat? Basicly maphack removes all the fog of war, so you can see everything. Its even a bigger problem in Warcraft 3, where you can play a game watching your opponents every move. Its fairly common, but I wouldnt consider it widespread.

Im talking about diablo 2. When my brother had an older version of it for d2 it didnt seem harmful at all. I have no idea what the current maphack is like.

Yeah if thats what it does in warcraft, thats ghey. I say ban their keys for a while, plus send them blaster virus. lol

I played D2 for awhile, but never heard many complaints about maphack. I assume it clears all the fog of war so you can see everything, correct? The game gets a lot easier when you can see everything, which is cheating, and should result in the banning of CD keys.

Maphack will display all monsters on the map as soon as it is loaded. You must press some kind of key combo and it will fill in all the walls and shrines in the act you are on. It also gives full light so you do not get the effects of day and night changes. No fun IMO.

There is some debate about maphack getting your CD key and sending it to the servers for easy pirating. I don't know if these are rumors or if it is true. It is enough for me to not use it.

Hope this helps clear up exactly what it does.

BTW: No lags with the new 1.10 patch for me.

Use maphack all you want for single player, dosen't bother me at all, but any cheats/hacks in multiplayer games should not be tolerated. Glad to hear there CD keys may be getting stolen.

Ok, here is my thinking on Blizzards approach to Maphack for D2.

Maphack is a MUST for almost all the current bots/hacks/cheats (mephbot and the likes). There is no "fog of war" in D2 persay, mearly if your not within viewing distance the objects go away from your view. Maphack allows you to see hidden items (such as the chests/logs/corpses that drop items/money), tell which item is of what quality (normal, rare, unique, and one more i cant remember), tell what mobs take what damage before getting to them, know exactly where set things are (like the proper tal tomb w/o going through the quest or knowing where the mobs are), and have colour coding for items (unique, rare, gems, charms). Oh, and it also tells you what the shrines do from afar.

Main reason for their hatered of Maphack is that its used in the hacks. Least thats my two cents. :t

here here :t I agree totaly, ban them all, take there CDkey, there was something like that on teamfortress where the player would be lets just say a sniper, in the water when you use your sniper gun, you can't see anything because of the water, like a mist per say, when using the maphack it would see as clear as day, same goes for looking for amo, you can see them when knowone else can, lord it use to drive me up the wall, cheating is one of the reasons why I dont play TF or CS any more :( sad world we live it lol

By fog of war I am refering to any area of a map or level darkened or unseeable because it is too far from your charecters vision. You definately can not see everything on a D2 level.

I learned something. It does more than I thought. Maybe it might be worth checking out for single player.

Have you lost anything yet from "Rust Storm"?
What realms do you play on and what accounts?
Are you Newb, Norm, or Leet players?
Do you like to Duel/PK?
Classic or LOD?
I play mostly USWEST - Classic ( I do have LOD however, just never got into it.)
Feel free to Whisper me in-game or post here if your interested in playing. (Level/PK I don't care)
