I know that AsRock is Asus's OEM type brand, are they any good,
have shortcuts been taken, will I run into any potential problems if I use this kind of board in PCs I build for my customers?

Thanks

I'm sure that they will be fine. Albatron is another brand to consider. I'm currently using Shuttle boards for my budget jobs. They are quite good and cost less than either of the above.

They do look temptingly cheap. I think I remember Peter M. mentioning something about not-so-hot AGP performance at some point - if memory serves he was referring to the K7VT2.

Memory. Memory performance on their VIA chipset boards wasn't so hot. They might have fixed that through BIOS updates, meanwhile. (I have no other hands-on experience - still using ECS here, and still happy with it.)

I'd heard of the brand before but it was a while ago and I coundn't remember what thoughts people has at the time.
My supplier is starting to use them in their base/budget systems, obviously because they are cheaper than the MSI ones that they've traditionally used in AMD systems.

Guess I'll see what they are like and if any problems crop up I'll have to charge my customers a bit more for MSI or Gigabyte boards.

I use Shuttle and Biostar also in budget builds.

The asrock mobo seems fine. So far no trouble and I'll continue using the brand.

Time will tell however.
