I mean things like frequency, cas latency etc? All you hear about is that is has high bandwidth and high latency, just looking for figures. I know in a dual-channel setup it has 4+gb/s memory bandwidth but that's about all I've heard, kinda curious http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

There are different types of RDRAM:
PC600, PC700, and PC800 (this refers to the Mhz speed of the RAM itself).
RDRAM uses a 16 bit data path to transfer data. 16 bits = 2 bytes.
2 bytes * 800 Mhz = 1.6 Gb/S of memory bandwidth.
PC700 delivers 1.4 Gb/S of memory bandwidth, and PC600 delivers 1.2 Gb/S.

So they actually run at 600mhz/700/800etc... How does the P4 utilise such high memory with it's quad-pumped 100mhz bus.

Oh--my mistake. NO they do not.
PC600 is PC300 DDR.
PC700 is PC350 DDR.
PC800 is PC400 DDR.

Thx dputiger, been wondering about that stuff for a while, I can't seem to get the cas latency off any sites though....

Hellmund,
Hit www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com) and find the old article (about 14-18 months) called 'Requiem for Rambus.'

Wow, can't believe I've never read the article, can't think of many of Tom's articles I havn't. It's a bit late now so I'm going to bed buy I'll chase it up tomorrow. Thx a lot Dputiger http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
