STEAM?

Just got an ATI vid card and it comes with a free copy of Half Life 2. The thing is, it has to be downloaded using STEAM. I am a bit apprehensive downloading STEAM, does STEAM contain a bunch of spyware or is it safe?

some poeple said there was, but they checked it and its safe

by the way, MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people use steam so......
steam is actualy ok, only **** thing about it are the UPDATES

today another update came out
after 15 minutes i FINNALY had it, always stopped at 30%

Yea, the release of Steam 2.0 really sucked. Nothing worked. I've been using it ever sense that release though. It's gotten quite abit better. Although, I wish they'd figure some way to stop people from cheating. I guess that's one thing they'll never fix though. MetaCheat is a great progie and all but it does take away from the game as a whole. It seems to me that Steam is alittle more vulnerable than standalones were with anti-cheat progies runnin on the server and each client...
