Umm, do you mean the 3000+? That dosen't run at 3ghz clock speed.

Anyways Asus A7N8X Deluxe is a great board, many people here like the Abit as well.

Are you clocking?
Any 'special requirements'?

Unless he is really looking for a budget motherboard the Asus or Abit will get the nod around here. Both overclock well with all the onboard features you would want.

Honestly. I dont recommend those boards unless someone is overclocking or will use serial ata, and soundstorm. Since AMD prices have fallen - for someone who wants the nforce2 but also a fast board that will overlclock, and not have to pay or serial ata and MCP-T. I recommend the Shuttle AN35_N, and the Biostar M7NCD Pro. For someone with not alot of overclocking experience I woudl recommend the XP3000 Barton @ 400 fsb.

If you really "know" that you will indeed use serial ata/raid, and soundstorm audio, then I agree with Magua all the way!

As mentioned, there is no AMD processor that runs at 3GHz, unless you're talking about a major OC. Are you looking at a socket A processor? Or 64 bit? What do you plan on using the system for? What's your budget? Do you want higher quality onboard sound? What about integrated video? 'Other' features (LAN, SATA, RAID)?

another one for the

Abit Nf-7 2.0
Asus a7n8x deluxe rev 2.0 (i got this one)

both great boards

amd 3000+ is clocked at 2.167GHz and is quite expensive
but if you have loads of cash and dont plan on overclocking go for it

for the overclockers and poor people you can the amd 2500+ for 90 bucks on newegg and a decent HSF (speeze, aeroflow, SLK-800) and you can overclock to 3200+ speeds easily. For the money u save from getting a 2500+ you can easily get a great video card!! so you might want to think about that

also nforce2 boards are a bit picky so make sure you pick out some good PC3200/DDR 400 RAM. Crucial makes some good stuff so you might want to check them out

Don't worry, I'm an MSI fanboy so I'll make sure they're represented properly ;)

Do you already have the processor? If not, just curious as to why AMD? Intel may be a bit more expensive, but it pretty much beats AMD's processors overall.
