This thing better be on par visually with Max Payne 2 or Half Life 2 if its coming out well more than a year after them.
Even though they say Q4 2004, you know how things go. Thats probably the PS2 release like they did with VC where the PC version was released like 6 months later.
But yeah when it comes out if its as much of a leap as GTA3 was from GTA2 then its gonna kick.

If it's going to be ported from/to a PS2, I wouldn't expect the graphics to be that high. I'm pretty sure a PS2 can not handle HL2 without serious downgrades in IQ.

...is that GTA4 will flop, for various reasons. I think it won't live up to expectation, mainly because 3 was so different than 2. And if you look at it, how MUCH different could it be? I mean, yeah, 3 did look better than 2...but that's not what made it a good game...it was the gameplay (or lack of following it). So my guess is that they will be shooting for the same old formula of "Gee, fancy graphics make everyone drool, make big bucks for game company" and it will flop because of the "same ol, same ol" in game play.
SOO, unless Rockstar/Take two pulls a miracle out of their butts and comes up with something we haven't PLAYED before, then it will be a success, maybe.

im pretty sure that GTA came out on PS2 FIRST and they made GTA vice city for the PC, it was ported from PS2 to PC but i feel that GTA on PC rocked way more than on the console! it looks a lot better on PC

The reason it looked better on PC is becasue of the higher resolution. The over all graphics were pretty much the same, with some exceptions where they added a little more stuff that can be renderd better on newer video cards than a PS2
