Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Max Payne 2
I heard that the developers are creating a lot of trailers on this popular PC game.
I even watched a few of them that feature naked Mona dancing around the sets.
Funny...
I haven't tried out the game yet so I need some feedback on this game.
I only played a bit on Max Payne so i don't really know what is the specialties of the game's sequel.

I'm never one to play games through to the end, I just give up because they are plain boring, but MP2 was slightly different - I only got the hang on bullet time/shoot dodge a little way in.
The only gripe is the actual game-play is really short, I reckon on about 3hrs, you spend the rest of the time watching cut-scenes, those cartoon like drawings and waiting for it to load.
Still, it is quite cool, if not a little repetitive by the end, and the "boss" was fairly dire, as are the extra game-play modes.
Waste of money I'd say, don't buy it.

The nude Mona model is good for a laugh..for about three seconds...if your 14 years old )-|
Cracking game for any fans of HKBO's and a must have for fans of the first game, probably not woth the 25 quid asking price though, 20 would be nearer the mark

Just got to the final Boss level tonight...but will finish tomoz. Its one of the coolest games I've played to be honest....not very long though...however...what game really is these days. Graphics are close to the best I've seen.....1280x1024 ..full effects..full AA & AF looks absolutely wicked!
Give It A Shot If you Liked the first one!!!!!!!!

Fianl boss is far to similar to the one in the first game, and to be honest, the graphics arent that much better than the original, as it uses the original engine with a bit of a spit polish.
Cracking game though

So the original used the Half-Life 2 engine as well? I thought the original used the MaxFX engine. I guess the HL2 engine is pretty old. :p
But I watched the Bink movies and the gameplays are quite smooth and nice.

I know you were. I was giving you hell because you said that MP2 uses the MaxFX engine with a bit of spit and polish. In reality it uses the Half-Life 2 engine. ;)

I know they both use the Havok physics engine, but wasnt aware MP2 used the HL2, got a link for it?

I quite liek the ragdolling in MP2, very John Woo, but the boxes moving aroudn anywhere you went near them was more of an irritation than anything as was the fact you could pump 100 round sinto a cardboard box and not destroy it

I do believe that's what I was talking about. I can admit when I'm wrong. Both games use the Havok physics engines. MP2 still uses a tweaked MaxFX engine. :)

Weee, im confused. I thought that MP2 looked far too similar to MP though to use the HL2 engine, also it was nowhere near taxing enough system wise to be the Hl2 engine

Oddly enough it looks quite a bit better than to original and isn't taxing. Perhaps developers might consider learning how to improve code paths to improve performance instead of relying on the brute force HW. I have a friend who is playing MP2 on an XP1800+ and a Radeon 7000. He said it's playing fine.
Which one is the latest engine?
I can't play Dawn of the Modern World.
Wah...
