Well, I'm an idiot. I needed a sound card for my new computer, but I didn't want to spend too much, so rather than research it, like I usually do, I just went out, looked at a few boxes, and picked the one that sounded the best.. The Aureal Vortex2. Little did I know, the chip manufacturer is out of business, and there is basically no support for Win2k. The drivers suck, and the documentation is worse. All the instructions on the various internet sites, are several pages long, and its a huge pain in the **** to update this thing. Plus, its not playing nice with Max Payne... Should I endure the headache of dealing with this thing, because all the reviews say its got great sound, and some neat-o features, or should I exchange it for a different one, and if so, which one?.. (it cost me 30 bucks.)

Thanks,
-Jim

Hi, I would take it back if you can't find drivers. I'm not an audiophile so I just buy the cheapest OEM version of Sound Blaster. I've never had a problem with them. -Ever.

I would most definately take it back. It's not worth the pain in your @$$.

Get the SB Live at least.
