Ok, I have always been an AMD guy. In fact, even in pre-pentium days I have never owned an Intel CPU. All my motherboard knowledge now resides in the AMD arena. I am now considering going to Intel for my next upgrade, but know very little about the chipsets. Can someone please tell me what the good chipsets about now are, and why? Also, in terms of features, what chipsets are comparable to the nForce2 MCP-T (the posh one that's on the ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe if I got the name wrong)? Finally, what specific motherboards use the recommended chipsets the best? (please no EPOX, I think they have a vendetta for me and I now won't touch their products).
Cheers,
G

Best chipset for AMND atm is the Nforce 2, and of the nforce 2 the best boards are:
Asus A7n8x Deluxe
Abit NF7-S v2.0
Epox 8rda+ v2.0 (if you can find one)

The best chipsets for P4's are the 865 / 875, with the 875 being the top of the line. However, I'm not really aware of them coming with top of the line sound or other features as with the fully featured versions of the nForce2.
If you want the utmost in stability / reliability then you could go for an Intel m/b, but it will be lacking in OC'ing features. Otherwise, ASUS does a good job with Intel chipsets, so you could look into their offerings.

Not only that but gtaylor was asking about Intel chipsets, not AMD and also stated he didn't like Epox.
