Just to keep everyone happy I started a new thread:t

system -

Barton XP 2500
512 ddr (twinmos)
80 gig hard drive (maxtor plus 9)
MSI KT6 Delta-LSR KT600 motherboard
Radion 9700pro Graphics card

Problem-

I have recently upgraded my system, new mobo and chip, I installed XP pro and it is taking absolutly ages to boot up (about 1:30 to 2 mins) before I upgraded my old system with the same drive booted in 30secs. I have done all that has been mentioned on a previous thread about the same problem and still no joy.

I have -

Re-installed XP pro
installed XP pro on another hard drive
Swapped memory
swapped IDE connecters
Swapped cables
Changed jumper setting from master to cable select
Removed CD ROm
Removed floppy
Disabled LAN
Set Bios up to 166
Tried default bios settings

I a at a total loss, what the hell can it be:confused: any further help would be greatly appriciated:t

The best systems boot up in 30 seconds after POST, true. If yours takes significantly longer, it may be a bad driver or an unknown device causing it. Be sure that all drivers are loaded properly in Device Manager. Download updated versions of all the drivers you can find, starting with the VIA Hyperion drivers.

done all that, all drivers are bang up to date, the only other things in the case is graphics card and soundcard,

There must be a solution:x

FIXED IT:t

I have put hard drive as CS on 2nd IDE channel, and my DVD writer as slave on the same channel, leaving IDE 1 unused,

The thing now boots in under 30 secs,

Fookin Crazy, could it be a problem with the IDE 1 channel do you think?

You never mentioned your drives. They are not all the same:
