Diamond Preps To Take Back the Market

I remember Diamond for graphics drivers that were nigh impossible to uninstall.
I also remember them for cutting off access to drivers for most of my sound cards.
But I'm not bitter.:mad:

My savage 4 kicked ***! After my savage 4 was my geforce 2 , and i actually got better performance wit the savage in some things then the geforce, i still have the card, probably thro it in a system im buildin for my pops

Woohoo! Finally, we have a company that knows how to market and support their video cards! When S3 bought Diamond a few years ago, they ruined everything. It wasn't Diamond's fault.

Now - if they would just start selling modems again too...

for free! :eek: It used to be a sweet card in
the late '90s !!! :p

Might be nice to have another contender
in the ATI/nVidia dominated marketplace.

I remember Diamond for really great Win3.1 drivers with their Speedstar64. Only thing is, the 95 drivers tended to cause BSODs and were impossible to uninstall. :p

Still, the speedstar64 was a great card, and works to this day. I also have used the Viper II; pretty OK I must admit.

I would buy an Ati or nVidia card by Diamond any day. Their quality is awesome.

I think that is great. There needs to be more hardware companies. I have bought a whole bunch of Diamond stuff, and still am using most of it. I have one of their cool imac blus usb modems and it works great, use it for faxes (dial-up too when dsl goes down). Welcome back, Diamond!

I'm a big diamond fan as well... My very first video card was made by diamond, I don't even remembe what it was called. What I do remember is that it was an ISA video card (thats right, I said ISA) that had 1 meg of video memory (upgradeable to two) and I was using it in my 486DX/33. A little while after that I was a proud owner of the Diamond Monster 3D, and the Diamond Monster 3D II 8MB. <~~~ Now that was a GREAT card!

If you take a look at the archieves at tomshardware, they've got reviews for that card, I find it humerous by today's standards when I read things like "resolutions up to 800x600" or "as high as 800x600"

This is indeed great news!! My Diamond Monster Fusion is still working in the PC I put it in. I'm in the middle of a new build, maybe I'll wait to see what Diamond has to offer before buying a new video card. ;)

I, Too. am a fan of Diamond Multimedia. I still recall the day so clearly when my Viper 550 AGP card arrived for my New Pentium II 350mhz (100mhz FS bus) using an Asus P2B Mobo. The Improvements that made in gaming was incredible. I felt so cutting edge. hehe.:D

Wow I remember a Diamond was my first card waaaayy back in the day I payed $400 for an STB129 diamond velocity card! 4mb

Yeah, I remember owning a diamond card with the Riva chip on it back in the day.
. So sad Diamond decided to stick with the same old ATI and nV chips that almost everyone else uses instead of doing something outside the box like forming a design team from among the other small graphics chip makers and coming out with something truly unique ...
. Now all we have is to wait and see how they try to differentiate themselves.

Well, I've since found out that Best Data bought the name. They make passable stuff, but they will have to live up to the Diamond legacy. It should be interesting.
