:( this is the first computer i've ever built and i set everything by the manual. The power comes on because the vid card fan and the power fan comes on but my drives dont power up, i set the jumpers and all and even tried testing other hardware in my computer instead of what i have now just to make sure my hardware isnt faulty. I tired reseting cmos and all but still no luck, there is one jumper that isnt hooked up its the power led, this wire isnt hooked up because there is not space where the other wires are attached so that wire is just laying around the case. I even tried disconnecting the all the drives and only leaving the vid card and the memory hooked up still no success, please help

Please supply system specs. Sounds more like a possibly badly seated memory module and/or CPU problem.

Remove the board from the case, place it on a soft, non-conductive surface near the case and plug in the ATX power. Leave in the CPU and RAM. Place the vid card in and connect the monitor. Connect the power. Nothing else needs to be connected. Press down hard on the vid card and use your screwdriver to short the POWER BUTTON pins. See if it POSTs.

One of the componemts is bad. Substitute another video card, CPU and memory.

Is your Hard rive actualy hooked up to IDE cable on primary IDE alone as master? List the actual motherboard it it and the case it is in and we can help. Might be something terribly simple :)

*Make sure you put your CPU heatsing on the right way with the drop edge lined up with the raise in the CPU socket

*Check your case power wires again 2 times against the manual. Try the vid card from the "other" machine you have in the one your building.
