Since last Friday I have received well over 7000 (Yep, seven thousand) "investment package" e-mails from a kilomyi@msn.com to my Hotmail account. There was around 3400 on Friday afternoon, 800 on Friday evening, and another 3000+ yesterday. Has anyone else experienced this or am I special? I just thought it was odd... Thanks.

WOW

They must really want you badly!

Setup a mail rule to kill those the second they arrive

You are the second person I have heard complain of such a problem in the last few days here. What a pain! Can't believe you got hit with 7000!

Do what the Mntman says...that should take care of it.

They would up in my junk mail folder when I first got them, but naturally Hotmail doesn't work well with such a bloated account. Offhand I think they were sent to multiple recipients so there are probably a lot more people who got flooded. Still, it seems weird...

Sheesh! Talk about the E-Mail Bomber!7000+ sounds crazy! You must've had a hell of a time deleting them all from your account! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Wow how's this for service? Three moderators? lol

Hotmail dumped them into the junk mail folder all by itself. All I had to do was wait for the thousands of subjects to come up (which took over five minutes for each group of 3000+) and empty the folder all in one shot. They were sent to "undisclosed recipients" so they may have singled me out, or there could be a thousand others. Should I inform MSN of this?

If you still have one of the messages run it through Spamcop.com and it will tell you if the msn.com header is false or not. After you find this out notify Hotmail, MSN and whoever shows up in Spamcop as the true originating ISP. If you can't get into Spamcop without an account forward one to me and I'll check it out and get back to you. I have a special hatred for spammers.

Doesn't Hotmail have a block sender option like Yahoo? I can't believe they don't! That would be 7000 bounced emails back in his box http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes Hotmail has a "block Sender" rule that you can enable as well.

Yeah, I got several too... I don't know how much but it was well over 1000, luckily I caught it pretty early and was able to quickly setup my junk mail box to get rid of them immediatly.

Hotmail indeed does have a "block sender" function but I hadn't added that address yet, and still haven't actually. There were just the three batches that I've mentioned. It has been several days now with nothing from that address. I'm really not terribly concerned about it, although I'll probably take a look at Spamcop just for the hell of it. I find it kind of funny really... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
