I f you don't have a manual you can d\l one here (http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/manual_k7s.htm). :t oobootsy1 10-28-2003, 07:36 PM thx man... o ****....supports only 200/ 266 fsb speeds. and only amd k7 cpus. would i have to get a new mobo if i ever get a 3ghz cpu then? gjimene2 10-28-2003, 07:37 PM yep, you would. oobootsy1 10-28-2003, 07:39 PM o ****.....hopefully one of the stores near me has a good cpu/mobo combo. maby a online store also. whats that store online that has egg in its name? gjimene2 10-28-2003, 07:46 PM www.newegg.com sm8000 10-28-2003, 08:20 PM You can get an AMD K7 cpu that'll do just as well as a P4 3GHz chip. A Barton 3000+ or 3200+ will do it at stock speed. Just update that motherboard' BIOS and you're all set. deadkenny 10-29-2003, 09:31 PM Nope, the K7S5A isn't going to support a Barton, even with a BIOS flash. The fastest is gonna be the XP2600, 266MHz FSB version. causticVapor 10-29-2003, 10:15 PM A 3GHz 90nm barton, in all FSB flavors, would be nice. :D Bat25 11-01-2003, 05:43 AM ECS K7S5A will take XP2400 just fine (T-Bred). No more. sm8000 11-01-2003, 07:43 AM I was mistaken in thinking it would support a Barton, but it will support up to a 2600+ Bat25 11-01-2003, 11:53 AM Yeah, I know for sure the K7S5A Pro will support 2600 @ 266 FSB. Of course there are 2 versions. the other being 333 FSB. Also I think the older K7S5A will take the 200/266 fab chip with a bios update. Thats' pretty good support considering the Soyo KT266a would never run a T-Bred correctly even with th bios update unless you were one of the lucky ones that got a late productin board with the PCB (capacitor) changes. Off topic from the 5A (forgive), the old Soyo dragon will run an XP3000 Barton (333) if you hard mod the PCB with instructions from a friend of mine @ AMBMB. He has helped salvage alot of old KT266a boards, and it allows them to run just as fast as the KT400 :) SysOpt.com
