When searching for results on a specific website, Google.com (http://www.google.com/) allows you to limit your search results to just one website by adding "site:" to the end of the search string.

Here's an example of how well it works.

Go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?ln=en-us&sd=gn) and search for information about any topic you can think of.

When you're done, go to Google.com (http://www.google.com/) and type in the same criteria, followed by a <space> then site:microsoft.com

I'm partial to Google, but I believe the other search engines offer similar features if you go into the "advanced search options" and look for different search options. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) is invaluable to me also. You can use Google to search the Web without ever leaving the site you're at, or opening another browser window (I'm not sure if it's available for Netscape yet). If you have a little extra space on your IE toolbar, you can place the Google bar there and not even expand the size of your existing IE toolbar. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

*Note if you install ALL the features of the Google toolbar, you'll be sending information back to Google about your surfing habits, and the sites you visit; which is otherwise known as spyware. You'll have the option, during installation NOT to install these features though. Of course, I chose not to. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Hey Fingers I never did install the bar because of the spyware. I didn't know that it could be disabled. Do you remember how?
THX
and congrats on the promotion. I just noticed.

When the Google toolbar is installing, there will be two items under "Advanced Features" called PageRank and Category, make sure they're both unchecked. Look here (http://toolbar.google.com/button_help.html) for more on all the features including PageRank and Category, and read the the Toolbar Privacy Policy on the same page, or view it here (http://toolbar.google.com/privacy.html)

If you decide to enable those features later or accidentally install the toolbar with them enabled, they're easy to turn on and off. Look here (http://toolbar.google.com/help.html) to see where the Toolbar Options are located.

I have the Google toolbar, however I was given the option of not having information about the sites I visit given out before I downloaded it, there were two buttons to click on... one with spyware, and one without... have I been duped?

Now that you mention it... I do recall that too... it's been so long ago that I forgot about it. I don't know if it's still an option, but I'm sure you can "install" it either way. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, now I remember who turned me on to the Google toolbar. OuTpaTienT ROCKS!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

When anyone reads my posts, you can pretty much figure that I learned it right here at SysOpt, and OuT is one of the best.

Maybe we need to get The Best of Tech Support (http://www.sysopt.com/cgi-bin/forum/forumdisplay.cgi) section going to archive some of these gems??
