this other day, i was messin around with two DOS programs called MSAV and MWAV. after closing them, a file called CHKLIST appeared on my desktop and some place else.

so people, is it safe to delete those file to kingdom come?

The two programs are MS anti virus for DOS and MS anti virus for windows. Both are antiquated and can be removed as long as you have current AV software. If you can open chklst, see what it is. I'm almost positive it is a .dat file created by msav, but I'm not 100%.

ok, cool, i opened one on DOS's edit program. all i see are a bunch of weird characters.

so is it safe to delete them?

Those chklist files contain results of CRC check DOS antivirus program ran on the files on your HD. Next time you'll be running it, it will check if the file was somehow changed by the virus by using this chklist files.
But I guess it's totally irrelevant, since DOS antivirus databases weren't updated since when ... 1992 ? Use something more newer http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif , as NAV ...

i just deleted those files and nothing bad happened, so i guess that's pretty hip.
