Is there a way to restart windows from within Windows, without restarting the computer? Although not needed often, there are times when this would be useful.

Put in C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindows if you want to shut down without messages. DHatAVI 08-31-1999, 05:14 PM Thanks, David awwall 08-31-1999, 10:14 PM Nother neat trick on startup is to hold down the left shift key while windows is booting and it will bypass all driver loads..will send you to straight to safe mode..very useful sometimes. aw scourge 09-01-1999, 12:43 AM If I understand your question correctly, all you have to do is hold down the left shift key (right might work, never tried it) when you press OK on the shutdown menu with restart highlighted. Susan 09-01-1999, 12:47 AM scourge is correct. It's shift/OK Anakhonda 09-01-1999, 02:31 AM I thought holding shift while Windows booted up only kept the files in the 'Startup' folder from running? What's the difference? SysOpt.com
