DONT BUY IBM's LARGER THAN 60GB! -voogru YMK 08-07-2001, 10:12 AM Yes. My 40Gb 5400RPM died. First it started making weird noises, like screeching and clicking and then it started thinking it was a 1.8Gb drive. Anyway, does anyone know what IBM does with defective drives when they get them? Do they reformat them? Because I forgot to reformat mine before I sent it back so I don't know who has my data now. alphageek 08-08-2001, 12:19 AM My GPX60 was shiped in buble wrap, sandwiched between the video card and CD-RW when it shiped. I thought it would fail in the first few weeks, but its been going for a month now. Now its in a RAID 0 array and I'm crossing my fingers. MrFreeze 08-08-2001, 12:27 AM Got my IBM 75GXP 30 gig in october last year after making a stupid little website for the company where my father works. I was very happy with it, it was so **** fast http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif But sadly, after 4 weeks it had some bad sectors on it. Used a program from IBM to reformat(low-level) the whole hard disk, haven't had a problem since then, I'm still very happy about it, love my HD! But from what i've read we should stay of the 75GXP series and go for the 60GXP. MrFreeze [This message has been edited by MrFreeze (edited 08-07-2001).] SysOpt.com
